When did it all start?
In 1929 Mr Van Zonneveld, a Dutchman, founded Marquees Ltd.

Mr Van Zonnerveld invented the Patent blind (see Products page) in  October 1937.

Joseph T. Ross purchased the company in 1953 and his son Brian M. Ross took over as Managing Director in June 1981.
History
Some historical facts:

Marquees Ltd is not only the home of Guildford Shades, but also where the Sunseeker brand of blind is manufactured.

We have been involved with the Ideal Homes Exhibition many times and have been pleased to assist many prestigious clients including the Dorchester Hotel London (pictured below), Lords Cricket Ground (pictured right) and all the local councils and Health Trusts.

In April 1981 the factory burnt to the ground in under 10 minutes but we were back making blinds 7 days later!

The 21st Century:
In 2000, as a part of our millennium celebrations, we built a new 1800sq ft display showroom in order that customers can actually try the product they are considering purchasing before they buy.
Based near the village of Worplesdon just North of Guildford we now have a 15,000 sq ft factory and manufacturing base employing 30 dedicated staff.
